So for a clean ML5 it needs a MCA or RYA stamp, do you send this in now prior to doing your coastal skipper or will they only stamp the medical when you submit all paperwork for commercial endorsement of the coastal ticket?

Only when you have completed your coastal skipper exam - and passed of course - do you need the medical done. You must however be in possession of the VHF cert and a valid 1st aid certificate, the RYA one day course is sufficient, at the time of the exam.

Once you have passed the exam then you submit all documentation and the medical exam form, including your sea survival ticket directly to the RYA they issue the commercial endorsement on behalf of the MCA.
