Was I yesterday as Queen Mary 2 departed Southampton on her New York maiden voyage. Myself, one other yacht and a couple of small stinkies, with two tugs spraying water around. I can't help wondering that the welcome she will receive in New York will be a bit more appropriate, remembering past arrivals of our 'Queens' there. She lookled great though.

Just watched a prog on Sky about the building of her....she has 4 of the largest saildrive legs I have ever seen for propulsion....don't think volvo penta made them though but guess spares will be just as expensive.

Aye Jim. My 2 cousins were on board and we had arranged that I would fly the flag so they could pick me out from the multitudes expected!!. I think I have a picture of you lurking in the distance as she cast off. You obviously were not wearing your dodgers!. Rab.
