I have fitted these new trim tabs but I cannot get them to work. Followed the fitting instructions carefully, but no go. If I reset them I get an immediate favourable response, then full stop. The two top led,s flash continuously. Cant find an engineer familiar with them .Volvo says contact a dealer. No help there so far. Any thoughts please?

Just fitted them to our MF 805. Absolutely essential to make sure the transom is true with no deflection when tightening. Made a mistake when fitting and connected the leads incorrectly , didn't put them in P1 and SB 1. Then one of the tabs stated to click as if gearing was slipping. Ordered new blade from Keypart but had to pay for it as they will only refund on VP say so once tested. Must say they have transformed the boat and don't regret fitting them now. If you phone Keypart and ask for technical they were very helpful 01621869756
Good luck

If you have the opportunity to send them back and get a refund I would ASAP!

I had a boat fitted with QL tabs, transom was re-shaped to make sure it was square with much new fibre glass involved.

I had five failures in five years of the QL tab units, plus I had two distribution plugin boards fail, plus a controller board. Basically the system would work for the first 3 weeks of the new season after being fixed and then that was it, error city!

I would now fit Bennett trim tabs every time rather than the QL which work well in concept but the engineering is a POS IMHO and experience.

Just to add following a PM discussion on this subject.

When they worked the performance and responsiveness was great. They always seemed to fail in the retracted position when the boat had been left to stand on its berth. I always checked for fouling before starting the boat but that never seemed to be the issue.

My local Volvo agent that fitted them got really tired of changing them sometimes under warranty mostly out of warranty and will now only fir Bennet Tabs following this experience.

It is a pity because the concept is good and they work really well and they are more responsive than the hydraulic tabs but clearly poorly designed and manufactured.
