If this guy is guilty hang him by the bollocks

If he is innocent, then he might as well have been since his name is plastered in the tabloids.

When is this country going to learn that this just isn't cricket, he may not be guilty, mistakes do and often happen. Now not only is he going to get targeted, so will his wife and children.

I think it is time people's identities were protected until a jury reads out a guilty verdict.

I do not know what the man is accused of. I do not care whether he is important, or even self important. I do care that he is accused and he may be friendless.

In Scotland we have an old tried and tested method of dealing with these stories. We say, does the man hold his position feudal right ? in which case burn him like a witch. If not he must hold his position by reason of one or other statutes. If he is a Statute type one, first check who did the statute, then check whether Parliament was sitting that day and if so how many turned up and what were their names. You will be surprised at the detail one can get, and more interestingly cant, due to the many onerous burdens that fall upon those who presently protect our liberties.

I am the spin doctor for Her Majestys many harbourmasters. I wish us to be clear, there will be no slagging off of Her Majesty, even and I wish to make this very clear, even if some among the very numerous harbours that Her Majesty has gracious responsibility for are a bit old.

It would be like blaming Her Majesty for the Navy or Norway. Her Majesty is aware that harbours exist, she is pleased that they exist, indeed she confided to me only yesterday that "a harbour is a very good thing, particularly where a boat should want it"

I think this speaks for itself.

Ironic (but predictable) that the reportage should be in the Sun - which often contains photos of naked 16-year-olds. Funny old world, innit?

Hello Woof Whatever the outcome there will be no winners .His family will suffer just as much as the man himself.

However I dont know if I can agree that his identity should remain secret until convicted /acquitted.

I personally new someone who unknown to me was waiting to appear in crown court on siimilar charges.While on bail he allegedly offended again and now had 2 charges against him,still loose in the community he then managed to gain access as a helper for a youth organisation.

Fortunately it appears nothing further happened and the man chose to face his maker rather than the crown court.

The eventual revelation sent a shock wave through our community and one oft repeated question was who new about it and why werent the charges made known for the protection of local kids?

Maybe - but the reality is that his careers done for even if found not guilty, his family will suffer endless anguish, and his colleagues will always be viewing him with doubt and innuendo. People are not fair minded.

Had a master at our school who was found not guilty of importuning ("was alleged to nod and wink at a young lad in a public toilet"). His reputation followed him to the grave, along with endless dirty jokes and innuendo.

There is a major difference between a case where the police decide to prosecute and the tangential association with criminal behavior resulting from the discovery of a person's credit card number on a web site in some dodgy corner of the internet.

It is mathematically trivial to auto generate valid credit card numbers.

Its not trivial to generate ones that work, only ones that are valid. A much more likely possibility is that his card details have been stolen.

Unfortunately its too late if that is found to be the case.

Well Woofy one of the many reasons why I no longer buy or read newspapers, my feelings are that the stories printed are written by 'Rumourist's'

Unfortunatly good Journalist's have never been employed by the Sun since the day it was launched! This paper also has caused much grief over the years for innocent people by its claims and lies, it amazes me how they get away with the crap they print!

I am disappointed to hear this. I think he is a good QHM.

I am afraid that following "Operation Ore" the most likely possibility is that it was his card. I can see no "trial by newspaper", the report appears to be only that there was an arrest and bail - easily disputable if it was not the case.

I don't think there have been any similar cases where there have been mistakes, misused card details or legitimate defenses.

Unfortunatly Brendan now that the paper has printed these allegations, because of the nature there will be people now that will refuse to believe otherwise. IMHO there should be a law preventing the tabloids from doing this until there is rock solid proof of someone be guilty as charged.
