Just been reading my latest QHM updates and I see that the VHP (volunteer harbour patrol) is to be further enhanced by having a Jet ski section.

Volunteers are to be fully qualified to RYA proficiancy standards and fully experienced. It should be interesting to what the poacher turned gamewarden approach had on our PWC friends.

It also appears that there has been found a donor for the hardware.

Having very little faith in anyone to use a PWC safely and with consideration, (my 53yr old brother has one), I say to the new patrol....

Quin custodiet custodes ipsos?
(Who will guard the guardians?)

I have got to say that I am fully in favour of the VHP as it stands and the above is fully tongue in cheek. Any attempt to control PWC behavior has to be applauded.

Given that you're talking jet skis here, shouldn't that be:
"Volunteers are to be fully qualified to RYA profanity standards"?

Interesting sight last night in Cowes as a jet-ski "driver" arrested and lead away by 4 polis. Appeared worse the wear for some incapacitating substance and fairly belligerent. Will qhm have 4 available to arrest the one?

That's the first incidence of "drunken" behaviour I have heard of from a PWCer. Anti-social behaviour resulting from over indulgence is a daily occurence in any marina or mooring where yachties gather together.

P.S. I am a yachie.

Maybe you should pass your comments on to Dorset Police!!

They use Jet Ski's! :0)))

The course is the RYA PWC cert.
