I have purchased two cheap Chinese wireless winch controllers which work well - at £5 each I'm happy. Obviously they are not waterproof. I'm therefore looking at encapsulating them in shrink wrap bags to increase longevity. Has anyone done this and if so what product did they use? Alternatively are there any other ways of doing this? I'm not expecting them to last forever but just trying to prolong their life.

I'm not sure I understand, are you talking about the remotes, or the receiver?

If the latter - just mount it somewhere dry and extend the cables.

If the former, a ziploc bag will probably work (but might look a bit naff). If you can access the internals, spraying with some shellac or corrosion guard will give it a fighting chance, but it's difficult to keep water out unless it's an IP rated enclosure and you may end up creating a good environment for damp & humidity to develop inside, negating the hard work.

Just get the small water proof bags that kayakers use for phones / keys etc. Fully water proof and easy to use, although we’ve have the cheap wireless remotes for the anchor for 5 years and never had any issue with it, at £10 a time would just replace

Cut down link to desktop version of the site with all the tracking information removed. Hope that helps.

They look quite interesting. I've had the non-waterproof type for a couple of years and still OK in 2019. No idea if they have survived sitting in storage since then. Shrink wrapping would need to be replaced in order to switch batteries.
Thanks, for the link, I'm thinking zip lock bag for now but will consider those if remotes fail.
