Puzzlement over Yanmar engine oil

I buy an oil with an acronym, that's true, I've already bought from them (not Italian but German), I've always got the right oil

For info of OP, CD oil is easily available in France (a pleasant weekend trip from Brighton), from the Norauto chain for example, and I use it in my 3YM30, thus far without ill effects.

I've been using the Mannol 15w40 universal Api CD for several years now and I'm fine, now that this synthetic comes out, I'd be tempted to change, the benefits of a synthetic oil are remarkable and so far only the 10w40 and 5w40 as syntetic oils, not suitable for our engines

What's the argument about?

Surely Mannol CD is fine for those who want CD (I buy it from Amazon). If RichardS prefers his oil to be synthetic that's fine, they're his engines.

It's nothing to do with me or my engines. Frank is proposing to use it with his engine and is simply drawing the new grade synthetic oil to the attention of the forum.

However, I've now found that it is available in the UK http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MANNOL-TS...263915&hash=item465f81e55d:g:muQAAOSwfkdZjbWk and at a very attractive price per litre. However, I already have 15L of 15W40 semi-synthetic in the garage picked up at sale prices so I'm rather oil-rich at the moment but I'd certainly be tempted in future if anyone wants to go 50:50 on a 20L drum.

Richard
