The saga continues ..... oh I want to change my Username.

Ignoring Matt's sound advice on buying locally on the Cote d'Azur, last weekend found SHWNBO and I in Sardinia looking at an Endurance 39. Great trip , lovely scenery ,fly into Figari (Corsica) , stay in Bonifacio , Ferry to St Theresa drive to Olbia wonderful. View boat , get a trip on a diferent 39 . Great specification . This is really looking good.

Contract terms then let us down. They will not do full contract under International (nor Italian) law , I and the good lady get very nervous , then conducting price negotiations in Italian/French/English mix. Disaster. End result both parties walk...all swearing never to talk to one another again...We think they had an alternate buyer and were just goingthrough the motions, they think Brits are fundamentally mad and why would we wanta survey done on such a cheap (?) boat.

Oh well , lessons learnt, now need to find Cranchi 39 ..2nd hand. On Cote d'Azur. Will I ever get my boat.

Re: Good! ...and buying abroad

I'm pleased that you've found a boat you like. I still think best to buy locally, and so very pleased that you walked - if you had difficulty negotiating price there'd be loads of problems trying to get anything fixed - if indeed there was any guarantee at all.

Re: Good! ...and buying abroad

Yes........should have listened to you in the 1st place. Never mind , probably my unswerving need to negotiate everything and have absolute clarity (SHWNBO).

Have tried to contact Bart my e-mail and phone but he obviously has enough business. Will try and winkle hin out of his shell this coming weekend. I had also met Thiery Lucker at Aried de Boom , but he seems to have disappeared into the ether as well.

Visited E36 and E39 on Sunday as well , all Rag boats at moment, but definitely enough room even for me to stern to !. I'm looking to buy but may rent this season , more when I sort the rest out !

Can't resist working out handles .. Classic Movies by any chance?

Is Big Cat now in Antibes or La Napoule ?
