Just bought Redstart from Ebay. Just need effective manual pump - if possible one that will suck, too, to allow better collapsing - recommendations? Also oars that fold / come apart.
You can buy unbranded ones for as little as £4. As they are double acting they are very quick.
I suggest wooden oars of about 5ft 6in in length. You will bless them as you pass some poor sod pecking away with the usual stunted aluminium abominations.
It's hard to beat the proper Avon collapsible oars, with plastic connections. The old ones with metal connections were often a problem as the wood swelled when wet and they could be hard to engage or disengage.
I've tried double action hand pumps and find that while they are fast they still hurt my back. Whereas a good footpump like the Bravo which also deflates I could use to pump with all day while hanging onto a stay for support on the foredeck - but it takes no longer than the hand pump.
It blows my avon in less than 1min per side & sucks the air out completely. After deflating, it packs up far smaller than I've ever managed with a foot pump.
I generally use it on the boat & have a nice big connector. It does draw significant current.
