Pull/Engine Stop Solenoid For Use On 1GM10

I've been trying, without success, to find a pull solenoid to actuate the stop lever on a Yanmar 1GM10. I could use the pull cable, but the route is a little tortuous and makes the cable rather draggy and stiff in operation. Also there's a stop button on the panel, so I'd like to use it.

I assumed I'd Google for 20 minutes, find a solenoid with a suitable stroke and pull force, then order one at reasonably modest cost. Not so! I simply cannot seem to source a solenoid with sufficient stroke and power to perform this simple function, yet they must surely be available for any number of varying applications.

Have any members of the panel managed to source such an item or have any suggestions of potential suppliers which may have escaped my search to date?

Any pointers most gratefully received.
 
Know the feeling about the Yanmar stop cable. My replacement Nanni has a solenoid stop which I expect is a standard Kubota fitting. Might be worth investigating, although you would have to figure out a way of mounting it.

Are Kubota/Nanni parts any more reasonably priced than Yanmar ones? I'm sure a Yanmar solenoid from a larger engine would do the job, but it seems they run at about £150 to £200, so are simply too pricey to consider for what's really no more than a frivolous upgrade! If Kubota spares are more reasonably priced, it may well be a viable source of such a thing.

I'm not too worried about the mounting as there are a couple of threaded holes in the engine casting which accept the bolts for the existing plate which carries the end fitting for the cable outer. I can easily fabricate a new plate which uses these mounting points but is suitably shaped to locate and position the solenoid as required.
 
No idea about prices. New engine so not had to buy any bits yet, but the engine is used in loads of little diggers and dump trucks so that might be a better source of bits.

I shall visit my local plant hire/sales place and ask about stop solenoids for the kind of machinery you mention. If the prices are within reason, they may even let me have a look at their machines to identify a solenoid of a suitable size which they can then order for me.

Stop solenoid

As a completely different option the actuators for car central locking use a little motor with gear box and a rack to actuate over about 25 mm with some power. The down side is that they need a reverse voltage to return to the unactuated position. (engine run) A 2 position centre off switch double pole double throw would do it. just a thought olewill
 
I considered that option, but really want to use the stop button already fitted to the Yanmar panel which is a simple 'push to close' item.

I did check RS extensively and unless I'm missing something, all the long stroke, hefty pull jobs seem to be discontinued. Like this one... http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/tubular-solenoid/5337048/

If the 30mm 5Kgf one you spotted was a different and still current one, I'd love to know as I can't seem to find one on there anywhere. A real pain as the one above would be perfect and was sensibly priced.

Sorry - it was that one and I didn't notice it was discontinued. Was only half-looking on my iPad while watching telly :)

Suspect Davey might have the right idea with eBay these days.

No need to apologise. Thanks for taking the time to look! Shame it was the same one though, looks like the item for the job. May try and track the same item down from a different supplier, will just check that 30mm is sufficient stroke first.

Re eBay, been there too. The item Davey found looks like a push jobbie, which I could try and use but will need a good deal more bracketry and be a bit in the way of things nearer the front of the engine. Have searched for solenoids generally on eBay and haven't found anything which looks the part barring a Yanmar, not necessarily marine, item at £200 odd, which is too rich for me!

Edit: Actually, the eBay one may be a puller afterall. I shall ask the seller.
