Public transport Almeria airport to Almerimar?

We fly to Almeria this week, what are the best options to get to Almerimar by public transport? I suppose taxi fares are rather high?
I am hoping buses are not too complicated and are readily available

Public transport

No problem getting coach from Almeria airport to El Ejido, they're frequent and cheap. El Ejido is some 15 minutes drive away from Almerimar, and you can change there to a local bus to Almerimar - goes all the way to the marina.

Alternatively there is a taxi service available from a local Brit (John) who is related to the people that run the second-hand yottie bits shop on Darsena 1. You can call him and either get him to pick you up from the airport, or from El Ejido. From memory (shaky) I think he charged €20 for the El Ejido trip and €50 from the airport.

Transport to Almerimar

John is a good bet. We used him several times. He is the father of the lady who owns the Ankara bar and he supports Charlton Athletic as you will gather from the display of shirts in the bar!!
My recollection is that he charged 30 Euros one way but I could be wrong. We overwintered there 2006/07.
There's a big Brit community there. Go to the Ankara bar for any social info you might need. You can't miss it. Walk along the marina's eastern basin towards the boat yard and the chandlers (there are 2, one owned by Brits) and you will walk past the Ankara.
For any technical help and local advice find Chris either in the boatyard, or in his workshop next to the Brit chandlery. Chris is a dour straight talking Yorkshireman who has been living there for several years and is fluent in Spanish.

ITH, I cannot find any info on bus from airport to El Ejido, do you have any details?
I have used the El Ejido - Almerimar service quite a bit, just dont want to get stuck at the airport. So there is a direct service, you dont have to get a bus to Almeria and then to El Ejido?

I know the Ankara fairly well, our boat is only 100 yards or so from the door so thanks for Johns number, I will keep it as a backup for now.

As far as I know there is no direct public transport from the airport to Almerimar: hence the Almeria - El Ejido - Almerimar route. There is however a direct shuttle service which you can book on line. I think they're called shuttledirect.com, but you'll find it if you google almeria airport transfers. I think the price one way was €35 pp.

I have a couple of numbers which I will send you, one is Mike from the chandlery he works at the airport so does airport runs for about 40 euro & the other his friend & his wife, they took us back one time...........nice people. & there's John from the Ankara bar too. Forget about the public transport it's a nightmare.

ITH - I think you misundestood my last post. I am happy to take bus to El Ejido I was just after confirmation that it does indeed run direct from airport to El Ejido as I have found nothing on internet.

Stevie you will get many buses over there, no need to worry at all but still in bus there will be more rush and crowd and if you are comfortable with this then it's fine otherwise taxi would be better but it seems that you don't won't go for taxi due to high fares.

any updates on this bus route? We got the bus from La Linea to Estepona and it was easy. What is the bus to the airport from Almerimar like?

No direct bus from airport to Almerimar or El Ejido. There is a bus from airport to Almeria about every 70 min. There are three buses on weekdays at 1015 1445 1815 from Almeria to Almerimar. Otherwise you need to go via El Ejido.
