Hi chaps thanks for registering me.
I finally finished my amphibious landrover and took it to Henley on Thame a couple of weeks back and was very pleased with how it performed. I live near Brackly so it was a bit of a trick. I’m looking for public slipways a bit nearer and have seen mention of Wallingford bridge beach. Any one know if this is a good place where I can just drive in and out easily.

its an old army 110 with a stalwart dowty drive with a copy of the Kitchener rudder used on a stalwart all in stainless steel. The engine is a more modern 2.5 tdi It pushes along well in the water and 70 on the road. It has free wheeling hubs on the front so I can lock them when I swin to help exiting the river.

its a 109 series 3 ex army one with a stalwart dowty drive built in the bac. I’m planning on a floating caravan on the back soon. I don’t have to fing a parking spot for a trailer

Forget Wallingford beach no access and you won't be popular ruining the bank. But on the same reach there is a slipway at Cholsey near the old Fairmile hospital and also at South Stoke opposite the Bettle and Wedge.

I saw it in the water at Henley, looks really nice. How did you waterproof around the engine?
I had a Stalwart, never wanted to recommission the drives and controls, too many places for leaks!

it’s basically got a alley hull. I have 12 stalwarts three are swimmers but not as practical as the landrover.

There’s a public slip at Abingdon Marina, and another next to Windsor leisure centre.

fantastic project, pretty sure I was watching a clip of it swimming the other night

Cheers fusion I will take a look. We plan to set off from Abingdon marine and just see we’re the river and slipways take us. We may even start a Facebook page for people with amphibious craft that need more slipway knowledge. If we sink I will post some pictures.

Saw you in Henley yesterday, it seemed a lot quieter than the usual amphibious vehicles which always seem to be very noisy and struggling to make progress.
