PU40, mSEAL, Sikaflex etc.

Just got this from EverBuild:

I have been asked to follow this up to clear the confusion regarding PU40 vs our Mseal 295.

Firstly, yes we do refer to Puraflex 40 as PU 40, this is an industrial grade PU sealant that naturally would have some resistance to salt water and could be used in certain marine applications, however this product is not specifically tested in that environment to any extremes, nor does it carry any marine certifications as the 295 does.

The Aquaseal Mseal 295 is a specific high grade of PU which carries a much higher UV resistance, better colourfastness, and carries the IMO Wheelmark approval for marine and shipping applications. The biggest cause of failure of marine sealants is UV degradation, and thus we have specific products for these applications.

Well done Nigel.
However for underwater skin fittings am I too bothered about colour fastness or UV resistance?
Interesting question now is the equivalence with Sikaflex grades.
I wonder if Mseal 295 is like Siakaflex 291 and PU40 is like EBT or whatever 3 letter name their general purpose one has.

Deleted......... Did not notice that this was a resurrected ancient thread

I sealed my Perspex windows around the outside with the PU40, the sun does make it go off and can leave black streaks from washing over it. I am going to use black silicone when I re seal them this time.

Would this be oksealing windows in ally fraimes ?
And wats recomended to seal fraims to the grp boat ?
Any advice is great !!

I sealed the glass into ally frames with PU40 and the frames to boat with butyl tape from the caravan shop. It's watertight but it'll be a nightmare to get the glass out of the frame next time but hopefully it won't be me doing it.
