Prosecutions for mooring offences

Spelthorne Council has successfully prosecuted the owners of three illegally moored boats:

Good news, but what about the other 40 odd boats in Spelthorne? I contacted the council and they told me it was the EA's responsibility, the EA told me it was Spelthornes and so on and so on..

thats not much of a deterrent, £1400 across three boats. Result for them! Still far cheaper than a mooring..

And all three of them failed to attend court. That speaks volumes.

At least it's a start,out of small acorns....It's the council ffs they are all hopeless generally....Maybe once they realise there is a revenue stream tapping up boaters who knows......
I wonder if they wore life jackets and did a risk assessment before venturing out of the office

and then they will realise that they can hammer the legal fee paying boaters,just wait for mooring areas/fees to be increased,be carefull waht you wish for

Anyone who's visited Teddington Lock recently will know how ineffective the by law change has been so far.
The larger vessels will have their case heard on the 20th August, which I think(as someone who pays an annual mooring fee in that area)is a joke.
