Just about to put the engine to bed for the winter (Bukh 20 raw water cooled). It was suggested to me to run fresh water mixed with propylene glycol antifreeze through it to help prevent corrosion, and also be a bit kinder to the fishes. But I can't find it for sale anywhere - all I can find is the Ethylene Glycol based product.

Any ideas where to get this???

Cheers.

Propylene glycol antifreeze is commonly sold as "potable" antifreeze for winterising fresh (drinking) water systems. You should be able to find it in camping / caravanning outlets who sell it for that purpose. Contains little in the way of corrosion inhibitors, though. I don't know whether anybody makes a propylene glycol engine antifreeze.

NOTE: "Potable" does NOT mean you can drink it! Only that fresh water systems can safely be contaminated with it.
