The main force behind the protest is coming from the portuguese residents and it should n't be any other way. Good idea to enlist the Studland Bay group but I don't think I could influence the Ferragudo movement in that direction.

Yes there are many artifacts that have deliberately been left or re-buried in this estuary due to the lack of onshore storage for the preservation of the items. This seems to have been completely ignored by the project proposals according to the locals.
Lots of debate going on about this and project as a whole in the press down here.

Job for the afternoon. Off to the sand dune area (proposed marina area) to find some extremely rare flora or fauna. :) Anyone got any spare seahorses?

Discover a few bones or human remains. When they dug up bones near Odiaxere, it took months to establish it was a dog.

Yes google will translate the two links above but the Environmental study, that I haven't posted links to yet, is in Portuguese and is a series of "photocopy" pictures. so the text can't easily be recognised by google in the browser. I've been using the camera on my phone with the phone's translate to work my way through the document but it's not very successful and is a long job to just get through a few pages. I don't have any OCR software on my laptop so like the project document, I'm trying to get proper documents copies so they can be translated easier.
Maybe I should just learn a bit more portuguese it may be easier. :)

Not I, but when I was walking around the dunes a month or so back I saw a couple of horses grazing. Presumably they belong to the local gypsy's, would that be good enough? :)

Failing that, I signed the petition......

Yes the gypsies graze there horses there from time to time. Maybe we could claim that as an ancient custom that would be affected by the development.

Potentially the before and after.
The ferragudo village beach, Angrinha, gone forever.

Quick update.
The project has gone back for environmental review modification to be carried out by the Port authorities. We all know how that will come back then!
Results are due 24th Septemeber so that's when we expect the fight to really start.
Thankyou to all those who signed the petition, we are currently running with circa 2600 votes.
If you have not managed to sign it and feel that you would like to support the cause, please read the poster below that tells you about it and how to fill it in. You do not have to be Portuguese or even live in Portugal. Anyone with concerned interest can join in.
We still need more votes so please find the time to do this to help ensure the future of Ferragudo and the Arade river as we know it.
