Hi All

My camper's Propex Compact 1600 intermittently refuses to fire up.

It clicks away, some heat comes from the outlet, but then shuts down. On propane, plenty of volts.

Other times it has worked without fault for hours on end.

I've d/loaded the manual from Propex but there is no troubleshooting/fault tracing.

Any ideas?

Nick

Hi
I have a couple of these (both about 20 years old) and there is very little to go wrong. Most likely is the flame failure thermocouple which costs all of £2-3 or the case overheat sensor which is similarly priced. I would e mail propex who are very helpful in diagnosing faults for you and they will send parts very quickly.

Thanks-

It shouldn't be the case overheat as it's failing at startup ambient.

Do you remember how hard/where the dismantling was for the flame thermocouple?

I will contact Propex, but they seem to ask for the unit to be sent to them.

Cheers

Nick

have found Propex very helpful if you phone them.

Does the 1600 have a diagnostic system like the 1800, 1 flash on the thermostat = broken, 2 flashes equals badly broken?

the fault with my 1800 was a faulty fan unit and that did the same.

Are you sure you have gas? Gas in the cylinder? Gas coming through the regulator? Do you have a cooker on the same system? If so, check that is working ok.
