Proper name for sail lazy jack line?

But then you have to join the eyesplice to the pulley if you do not do it in situe. That means a big eye to go over the pulley & when pulled tight it forms a "lump". If you do a brummel splice around an eye direct, then you could end up pulling 20 metres of line through the splice. Alternatively, shackle or pin the pulley to the loop which creates wear points.
If you ever need to undo it then you might lose some line. With a whipping it is simple to do & quicker than a splice.
It worked well on Chiara. We have a single line on each side, a splice in each end, one end direct onto a block. The other loop is cow hitched, the loop has to be big enough for the block to pass through, we spliced the big loop first, then spliced the block on the other end. The rest of it is one piece, starting with another loop, spliced straight onto the boom. We then thread the line though the blocks, eyes on the boom etc. That may not be easy to follow, I appreciate, but you’d see the beautiful simplicity if you were there. You just have to do it all in the right order.
