Proper First Aid Course? - I keep forgetting everything!

Now all you have to do is beat the club up to run First Aid courses in house so they are done at a sensible cost to the end user :)

Yup, and it's remarkably easy to do. Find someone with the HSW First Aid qualification and, preferably, an instructor qualification in some sailing discipline and get them to do the RYA's 1-day First Aid Instructor course. You should then be able to get centre recognition from the RYA. A few dummies off e-Bay, an assortment of other bits and pieces and you are away.

Alternatively, ask me nicely and if you are anywhere near the central belt of Scotland I'll run a course for you at a very modest fee ;)

(If anyone is offended by the plug, I apologise but (a) I felt it appropriate to the thread and (b) my courses are intended as a service to the sailing community, especially volunteer instructors who require the qualification, and not as a service to my bank balance.)

I agree that if you dot use it you lose it so I became a community first responder. You work alongside the paramedics being first on scene and have oxygen and a defibrillator to use. Plus six monthly requals. No use f course if you can't commit some time to it.
