I just thought I would consult with the forum oracles, I have got a Huntress, I believe displacement is 2500 kgs, I have a 1:1 gearbox and 200 hp engine.

My current prop is 16.75 by 16.75 and I have got a new 16.75 by 17.5 prop that I was given when I bought the boat.

She currently does about 28 knts flat out, whether there is any chop and if I am on my own or have 6 on board she still pulls 2500 rpm.

Do I need to fit a bigger prop? I want to get the set up absolutely right, then I'll consider any mods to the engine to up the power, I want to be able to beat the Red Jet down Southampton water to Cowes.....

Blimey, your gonna have your work cut out, Red jet3 can do 44knts!
That will take more than a prop change and an engine tweak.
Love to see it though.

Yeah, I know they can go bloody fast, generally I think the Red Jets do about 35 knots, if I can get the huntress up to say 40 knts I reckon that would do, I think the M225 engine can be pushed to pull 300 hp and that would certainly do it.

Where are you based ? I might have seen you about. I'm a closet fan of faireys - the boat kind, (just don't tell my grp owning mates) and I tend to sneak an envious peek when I see one.

I am based in Hamble and boat is at the top of the river, called Cascade.

For a minute there I nearly posted the same response I left you on the FOC forum. Seems we have similar reading habits! I think I picked up the lead to the program from one of these forums try a search and see if you can pick up the lead.
