I visited my boat last week armed with my £10 vernier gauge, which I calibrated using a 10p coin, and the conclusion is my shaft is 1”.
Purchased my anode which then took 3 minutes to fit. Thanks to all for the advice. I wouldn’t have thought of buying a vernier gauge, but it was worth it.

I bought one 2 yrs ago in Aldi for about £7 never ever had one, in many, many years, i now use it most weeks
