Has anyone got a couple of 3kg propane bottles they want to off load? We're converting to gas. BTW - do I need to change the burners on a new oven to run it on propane rather than butane? We're in Foxs Ipswich.

If they are Calor, you can swap them at the Calor dealer as they don't care what bottle you exchange as long as it is one for one.

Most cookers will only run satisfactorily on propane or butane AFTER setting the burners up for the chosen gas.
Check the manual that came with your new oven for instructions - the job was very simple on my cooker.

Not quite true. Dealers have a list from Calor, detailing which bottles/type may be a direct exchange for what. I have 2 x 6kg propane that I want to exchange for 2 x 13kg propane. Not possible. I have to surrender the bottles back back to Calor, with part refund of bottle hire price depending on license age, then buy new 13 kg bottles + gas content,.All explained here http://www.calor.co.uk/help-and-advice/customer-services/cylinder-exchange-policy

well i havnt found that in the past. is this recent or peculiar to one retailer

I go to the local tip and buy the bottles I want, empty of course. Then it is a simple matter of swapping them for full ones and paying for the contents. Last year I needed three 4.5 Kg butane bottles as a reserve to add to the 2 in the gas locker. Local tip charged me £10 for the three and my wife reckoned I could have got them for £5.

Strange, as I recently swapped a 15kg butane for a 3.9kg propane, no questions asked form a main Calor dealer. Sounds like you need to try a different dealer.
