At long last and with large thanks to Oilyrag, Cottontail once more has a prop and shaft! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Thanks aslo to everyone who offered help and support.
The refitting did show up some new problems though, which is always the way. It also gave a clue as to the possible cause, it seems that when the engineer who replaced the Vire may have misjudged the position of the gear cable. When going into reverse the throttle started to come up before the gear engaged, so that when it did finally take then the revs put more strain on the coupling than it was ever designed to cope with; especially when used to slow an aproach for berthing.
Still, this time around we had a jubillee clip to save the day.
Thanks again to Oilyrag for helping us do this within our tiny budget and to the chaps at Sparkes, Frank of Hayling Rescue and HISC for their efforts.
