Anyone got any tips for removing the prop from a Enfield leg that's off the boat -think mines the original prop.
help appreciated as definitely newbie at this stuff
Thanks PCUK was wondering about cutting off anyway but I'm not best with a grinder. Is the prop nut the spinner? If that's the correct word for a boat that is, or does the spinner unscrew then there is a but underneath? The Enfield PDF I have isn't very detailed on this part
No idea about an Enfield and this may sound nuts but try pouring boiling water down between the shaft splines. On my duo prop the engineers struggled for an hour to the point that moderate force was being replaced with excessive force to get the props off. After trying boiling water they just slid off as if greased. Why, couldn't say. Looked like the grease in there had picked up sediment and hardened to a soap like affair that compacted when pulling on the hub.
I think it had more of an effect in melting the compacted grease/sediment mix that was acting like cement. Either way at the time it was a running out of options try. It worked but definitively why I cant be certain.
Thanks chaps, will give the boiling water idea a shot, makes sense. And Rafiki will try Alan if get stuck.
Probably. Will take it to my mates garage he has a workbench and vice should I get stuck-need to go there anyway to replace injector nozzle
