H.N.Y. to one and all.........just been refitting the props on to duo leg after a prechrimbo bellows change..job now done BUT curiosity said to me, "why do the splines in both props only go HALFWAY through the length of the hub",instead of all the way to the other side??.............. well, just thought i,d ask you guys.............regards steve

Probably because they're easier to make. Assuming they're machined, the tooling would have to fit inside the hub (less than I.D) and the longer the spline, the longer the tooling would need to be which would make the tool more likely to flex, thus introducing an unwanted taper.

Possibly :D

So you can't put them on the wrong way round?

If there were spines all the way to the end then the prop would be loose and wobble.

Just a guess, I could be wrong !
