I hit something last weekend and damaged the propellers on my DP290-E drive. I'm not sure if it's worth an insurance claim because of excess and loss of no claims.
My concern is about possible damage to drive because if it is damaged then a claim would be worthwhile. Is it normal to have the boat lifted and the drive removed and inspected when you hit something and is so does the insurance pay for this.

Done the same myself. Called insurers who ask you to get it checked out. Don’t think they would pay for the lift etc if nothings wrong tho!

Now where is that Brendan hiding?

Did the same last year. Had it lifted out and inspected. Got an estimate, then called the insurance co to make a claim.
They agreed the claim within 24 hours, did not want an inspection, boat repaired whilst out of the water. (They even paid for the collect and return service)

Think it depends on how hard you hit whatever it was.If a minor little ding in edge of blades then sort out at end of season.Have lost count of number of times props have made contact with underwater bits and pieces. At least 2 or three times per season.Could always drain a little drive oil to check for water ingress via shaft seal.
