Projector to replace TV

My boat, Sealine S37, is vintage 2002 and in consequence has a massively deep (and not very wide) TV cabinet which would be better used to store other stuff.
I‘m coverting a present my granddaughter got which is a projector (Viewsonic M1). I was impressed by the picture quality and particularly the sound quality
I have a large plain wall to project on.
Any others done the switch to projection?

yes, have had a PJ for 10 yrs at home, excellent
wired into the ceiling after a major leak from the bathroom above
no clutter when not in use
make sure you have a spare bulb, the go bang without warning

Brightness the issue. Not so bad on an S37 as you are “down below” even so I like a bright TV. I put a flatscreen tv under the 12v switch panel on mine. Worked a treat.

Good point about brightness.
Sounds like you know the S37
I’ve seen flatscreens fitted to the wall under the panel but do you need extra support behind the panel or can you screw a TV bracket straight on.

My 3rd boat was an S37. Was very fond of it. I’d be very happy to own one now.

There is a wooden bulkhead under there as I recall. Screw straight in. Don’t use over long screws as it goes into the door pocket. Drill a hole and you can drill through your door if it is open!

Have a PJ in my cinema since 2008, a Pioneer (rebranded JVC) still on it's original bulb as it's a totally blacked out room the low brightness from it is not noticed even at the 6.5m throw distance: Pioneer KURO KRF-9000FD D-ILA Projector Specs (projectorcentral.com)

In the bedroom we have an Infocus PJ ceiling mounted and it eats bulbs for breakfast: InFocus SP8602 DLP Projector Specs (projectorcentral.com)

Our internet provider/cable TV had a deal going for a UHD TV so I took advantage of that and we have a 50" LG smart TV in the lounge now and the old Pioneer plasma is now in the bedroom as I'm fed up buying bulbs for the projector there, the plasma TV has a much better picture quality than any of the other devices.

I think that’s the way I will go.
Wise advice re drilling through. I knew a guy who drilled through his garage wall into his car door.
