Friend and I are looking at the creation of a setup to display view ahead of boat ... with on screen Compass and GPS data ... speed etc.

We already do this sort of thing with drones and model aircraft.

Flight controller (we don't need to read the gyro / accelerometer outputs) - but it would give the coding for Compass / GPS and camera modules to transmit to a wireless link plugged into android tablet.

If we actually do it - I will provide all details / parts etc. for anyone else interested.

I already tried it with CCTV cameras feeding a Raymarine plotter video input and failed but good luck. The problem you will have is how to square the need for full coverage of almost 180 degrees ahead and either side with an image larger than a pinhead on a 12" screen of something which is already dangerously close. It's all about field of view.

FPV in RC already solved FoV long time ago ... the camera can be pivoted by RC on command. But we are not concerned with the video so much. Its to provide GPS / Compass display wherever you are on the boat by remote wireless display.

CCTV and so on is old tech - TBH ...
