Progress with my new (old) boat.

Years ago when I kept Rebels Only (a Fletcher 21) at Hamble Point, Mr Curtis (father of Steve) who owned the marina at that time, bought a cargo load of Fairy boats which had been en route to the Middle East but which had become stuck in the Suez during the problems. They needed much work (the heat had destroyed the rubbers etc) and to this day I tell myself I should have bought one...

I think those were Spearfish and Fantome destined for Libya. I'd have to check with the oracles.

Ann Curtis, the wife/mother, ran the office at the top of the ramp, constant chain smoker, I was refitting Westerley's, 2 every fortnight, charter boats, lift in and out every other Monday, Ann always very helpful. Race boats everywhere.

I think you are spot on. I kept Rebels Only on trailer which they launched and retrieved on demand. Later, I bought a Cougar Predator 35 which had been on the hard for a number of years. Called her L'eau Profile (http://www.playdeau.com/previous-boats/).

I remember all those matt finish Cougars getting exported to Central America...

BTW - you still in Beaucette? I think it was built by Ed Fattorini? See previous page, my boat was Big Ed III, his at the time when prepped to race, I understand he's still about on Guernsey.
