Just a passing comment - I note that a lot of regulars (and new users) never fill in their profile. Whilst it is not a requirement (heaven forbid) it does make it easier to gauge the poster when you are responding to them.

Can people who've not completed theirs tell me why they can't be bothered or have decided not too? If I come across a good reason then I will delete mine...

Compliments of the season

I don't on principle because one of the questions is 'occupation' which is boring, middle class and irrelevant.

Gosh, how precious of me! Off the Christmas party now - usual morning after embarassment to follow

So! If you are ashamed of your occupation don't fill it in. I wanted to be a Brain Doctor but I wasn't tall enough so I became a Gynacologist, being ashamed of that I put something else, must look as I have forgotten what.

Whatever caused you to think I was ashamed of my job? I think you might be suffering the same myopia as the person who made the decision to include occupation in the profile!

Done mine Dad, so can I have another chocolate please? Oh please I promise I won't be sick oh go on, please please, please.

Miserable old sod.

Ah! The computers working again after expencive repair job, owing to argument with bucket of water and loosing miserabley!
But I digress.

Why do people who have used there own name since a very early age, Sudenly find the need to invent a new one for on here. Now I can understand if the chat room was about iffy subjects. Like dirty knickers or what ever.

Some of us work with boats as well as playing with them, and might not wish to seem to be "advertising," or to feel it necesary to refrain from the odd quip or daring post on the grounds of potential damage to professional reputation. Some of us also can't work out how to post a picture!

Yes bargee thats right, I dont keep telling people that i'm a marine engineer, marine engineer, MARINE ENGINEER, OH I'M FED UP NOW!

Caution is my main reason and release of info which others may wish to use for less than honourable reasons. I am not an IT expert, so I don't know what kind of shernannerghans others may get up to with seemingly inoccuous info. Completing the bare minimum on profiles also provides a degree of anonymity for those of us who have alter egos, or who are considering developing one in a Mittyesque sort of way.

A few months ago I got a private message off someone who thought I may be a former boss. I thought I was dead clever and pretended to be that boss for one go. Little did I know, but the person I thought I was shafting, was not only shafting me (metaphysically speaking) but also the whole chuffin' BB. Had a boat called NYIII, I think, with duoprops that didn't contrarotate. If I could only remember who that was.....;-)
