A couple of years ago I paid someone to cut back the caulking and revitalise the teak decks on the boat. Unfortunately he used a very aggressive acid (I think ) product. *od knows how but some of this product got onto the base of the mast and the boom leaving dull patches. Does anyone know of a product that can be used safely on anodised masts and booms.

If one's going purely cosmetic ' Deks Olye ' is good for that, like a ( fairly ) permanent wet-look varnish.

I think I'd prefer to paint the foot of the mast with an alloy - friendly finish; the Dulux ' trade ' stuff is VERY good, unlike Hammerite which I have found useless.

Before applying any protective finish, was the anodised finish on the mast and boom damaged? If it was, then for long term corrective action the aluminium needs to be re-protected using something like Alocrom or Alodine before applying a cosmetic finish over the damaged area.
