Hello all,

I have a 22HP, 3 cylinder Nanni Kubota marine engine that goes into reverse very nicely, but often fails to click into forward drive. Has anyone had the same problem? If so, how do you correct it?
So far, I have changed the clutch plates - but this didn't work. I've also been told that it may be due to the gearbox oil, so have changed the oil - but this didn't work.

Also, if anyone can recommend a supplier of suitable reconditioned gearboxes, I'd be grateful.

Any help appreciated because I am starting to get a reputation for only being able to sail backwards!!

Have you checked the adjustment of the actuator /cable. Try removing the cable from the actuator and operate by hand. If it works OK then its the cable /adjustment. If not, it is an internal gearbox problem.

Hi 1955patric
Thanks for your response. Yes, we tried that, but it didn't work. Looks like it must be an internal gearbox problem.

Excuse the daft laddie question - are you putting the right oil in the box? I have one and I seem to recall some confusion in the documentation as to which type of oil to use - I checked with the factory (they responded promptly to an e-mail in English) and they confirmed that ATF oil should be used for my 'box as attached to a 3.75HE. I do have the paperwork for the 'box and can send you it as a PDF if you send me a pm containing your e-mail address.

Hi Kubota
Did you manage to resolve the forward gear problem. I have exactly the same problem with my Nanni 14 and not sure where to start. Would be grateful if you could advise on any actions you had to take and the the outcome.
cheers
