Problems with iridium car aerial. Help please

I have an iridium 9505a which I purchased on e Bay.

It works fine with the standard aerial, but won't pick up a signal with the magnetic car aerial it came with.

I can see no problems with either the aerial wire and magnet, or the adaptor part that connects to the body of the phone.

Any ideas?

I have a used 9505, but I haven't got a contract yet. A couple of thoughts though..

Check that you don't have to enter the settings and switch over to external aerial.

Check the car aerial is really meant for Iridium phones and not a random CB aerial...

Check the coax is not corroded, cut, kinked or crushed as it doesn't take much to ruin what is a rather weak signal, compared to your nearest mobile phone mast etc. Also the plug connection for corrosion and tightness.

A call to Mailasail gets lots of free technical advice over the phone.
