Problem with Furlex 100S - getting stuck

Mine was attached to the outer casing that you have removed. Have you tried removing the drum itself plus the flap bit yet to see what is hidden underneath. If and when you do keep a couple of turns of the furling line round the drum. It saves losing one half!
Thanks for the tip. No, haven't tried to remove the drum and flaps. I'll have a look tonight. But from what I've seen so far, I can't see how I'll be able to attach the silver outer casing if I remove the whole moulded plastic flaps, because the casing attaches to the spine part of the moulded plastic piece, in the second picture.

On the OP video it looks like something is pushing the top revolving surface of the drum upwards as it turns. Is the rope riding up as you unfurl and jamming under the top surface?
It is riding up and bunching near the top, but I'm not sure its getting jammed under the top surface. I'll double check though.

All suggestions so far might provide the answer. So might the following.

I have experienced with two furlex units the balls becoming badly worn - flats on them - and the side of the lower bearing track breaking/wearing which allowed these undersized worn balls to escape.

Just below the lower bearing track is the Talurit/Staylock type fitting. These have a tapered upper part.

If the portions of damaged/worn balls fall against the tapered fitting they get jammed tight against the Furlex's main bore.

This jams the unit solid. If operated while jammed it can - and has - unscrewed the forestay fitting which could cause loss of the mast and rig.

Experienced this twice, Gibsea 96 and Nic 32. Forestay came apart on the Nic 32, he was lucky to save his rig.

Even luckier to have me there to repair it safe enough to get him back to the UK!

I am sure the OP has done this but just in case, if you google selden furlex (model number) their site has detailed maintenance diagrams including strip down, lubrication and reassembly
