Problem with Autohelm instrument

Hi,

I've been re-working my instrument setup and all seems good except that my ancient Autohelm Multi instrument in the cabin has stopped working. It seems that power is getting there because the display backlight comes on but there is no clear visible data, just a kind of semi-display of a few segments.

The attached pic shows what I mean but it is not as visible as in real life that power is definitely applied.

Is anyone here familiar with these old displays and happen to regognise the symptoms?

All advice gratefully received,

Boo2

As no-one else has replied:- I reckon the LCD display is bu66ered. It may be possible to replace it, but Raymarine no longer support such old instruments AFAIK.
A repairer like Tinley might, or give advice.
Your best approach may be to look for a 2nd hand one if you don't like the cost of a new ST60+ Graphic.
There's currently one on ebay for £130 BIN.
Edit; A quick thought, these instruments have a LCD contrast setting in the menu IIRC.
Might be worth fiddling with this to see if it helps.

Thanks EB, can you remember how to get to the menu in this instrument by any chance ?

Yes, just looked at Dave's link.
Contrast adjustment is in section 5 of the Multi Handbook.
It helped on a tired, old ST50Log inst. but, I have to say, more for overall viewability rather than for missing segments.
Still, worth a try perhaps.

Boo2..

How important is this display? I might be able to free one up if needed (at considerably less cost than that those eBay ones).. Where are you located?

Thanks to all who replied, it was a contrast issue after all. A quick fiddle as per the manual and all was put right. Big thanks to Dave and EB for their help,
