private waters near PH Marina

Does anyone know anything about the waters to the right as one enters PH? A friend who lives nearby (and has done for 50+ years) reckons the "private" marker refers to the moorings, not the waterways themselves.

Nipped in for a peek today (after meeting Boatone at the lock - nice to see you) and it looks interesting.

I've seen these waters used by the Mags for "speed trials" of Thames boats, try asking the boat sales a PH.

Rumour has it that there are some underwater obstructions which could take your props off at high speed.

Also, there is a consideration for the the resident wild life to be taken into account. Nests do not take kindly to the wash of a planing 35 footer!!
