Priors Sand Barges

I enjoy looking at ship movements in the Thames Estuary using Marine Traffic AIS program.

I have noticed that there has not been any traffic from Priors ballast wharf up the R. Colne since just before Christmas.

Anyone have any updates on this? Are Priors still trading or having a month off?

Maybe the local AIS receivers are off-line?

I used to see them on a regular basis from my office window at North Greenwich, but now you say, I haven't seen one since before Christmas either

What an interesting outlook you must have from your place of employment,at least it would have been in years gone by,probably a lot less now. The Prior boats,the Bert and Mark I think, were working on a 24 hr basis up till Xmas but there doesn't seem to have been much movement since---

Yea, it's a big one for me... Just turn around and look straight at the old Naval College, turn right and look into West India Dock

Yes, all three are out today Bert & James inbound, Mark outbound, crossing just south of Leigh.

A month's holiday or essential maintenance/inspection do you think?

They only, I think, offload at Deptford Creek nowadays so the amount of trips would probably depend on stock requirements at the yard there, which I suppose would depend on the amount of building work going on at any given time,--rj
