... What Items do you have to add to bring her up to spec then?

[/ QUOTE ]
Just about everything that is in the options list, from the navigation, radar to the eletric sunroof, the docking video cameras (great for single handed), rverse cycle air conditioing, skypper cabin, deck in teak, all metallic paint, there are about 38 options that I think are necessary to bring her to spec for comfortable and safe cruizing.

The bathing platform seems to be floating away in pic 4! Those big brackets are trouble just waiting to happen.

Another who's not been impressed by many modern interiors, but this does look very impressive.

some of those items might make comfortable cruising, but I can't see any way they would make safe cruising more achievable. or cruizing in your terminology.

Cockpit doors, Passerelle, All Raymarine electronics and its support items, joistick, Autopilot, additinak water tank, watermaker, grey water system, etc, are to mee very important as this boat is to do yearly crossings from and to the Atlantic coast in Portugal, the Med and back to the UK. Surely other items like sound systems, LCD Tv's, freezer and the likes are nice items to add to one's comfort.

Silly comment but ---

Why do boatbuilders incorporate those awefull basins - whats wrong with a normal basin set into a worktop/vanity unit. SWMBO gets quite cross when she sees them - I agree.

If you are spending that sort of money it should have the job done properly. It must be cheaper cos they're all doing it.

Maybe I'm just old fassioned tho'

I think it is trendy Mike /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Don't understand it myself, but then if it isn't high gloss cherry (or maybe a nice oak) joinery and creamy leather then I don't really like it.

Overall, I think the boat looks nice. Like the wood colour, like the fabrics and the layout. I think it looks like a Rat boat but he thinks it a bit big /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Today the Prinz 54 was presented in Antwerp at a local boat show. I'v been on it and spent some time checking it out, talking to the dealers.

From what I saw, this looks like one very nice boat. Excellent quality materials everywhere you look, outside and inside. Behind the steering wheel, best view outside I have seen for a hardtop, both front and sideways !

Double IPS 600 engines (435 HP) giving 32 knots (I was told) with full fuel tank (1200 liters ?), water tank and 9 people on board.

Price was starting at 545.000 euros, model at the show costs 800.000 euro ex VAT. Next to it was a Fairline Targa 52 costing 25% more and looking less sexy I must admit.

Seems their next one will be a 70ft one ... why don't they get something similar in the 40ft range ?

Cheers,
Alain

i like the new trendy wash basins in medium dimensions apart from the style factor they look smarter than a mini basin tucked in a hole
I also like the creativity of interiors that is happening more often lately as it offers something different
about 7 years ago everybody was looking the same with the cherry wood interiors and it was getting a bit boring IMO
now with the Oak, cherry, wenge etc its getting more creative for inside of these boats which lets admit for the prices they cost thats the way it should be...
the Prinz outside looks very sexy but what I like the most is the walk around deck, something not much seen on a 16 mtr boat especially with those kind of lines, would like to view the quality of the boat but I think most of the saving $$$ comes from using IPS which would cost 25% cheaper then to a shaft driven Fairline, so I imagine quality to be of good level

There has been 3 days from Genova's opening and I can't find any new information on Prinz 54 on the internet. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend it in Genova and Prinz will not be London or Dusseldorf. Is there any other website with new photos and videos of theis boat? Thanks.

IMO the savings are down to three factors:

1. Building the boat in Croatia, where low skilled labour is a quarter the cost of UK or Italy, and skilled labour is still less than half the cost. The interiors are made in Slovakia, with a similar wage advantage. Production halls are also cheaper in the East, and Prinz have a big modern manufacturing facility.

2. It will be one of the most mass produced boats around, every part of the boat has a mould, including all the inner partitions, instead of being built up by hand in timber.

3. IPS as you say, although the savings with IPS are in installation, not in the hardware cost, so with lower labour costs the savings are also less.

From what I can see they have not skimped on specification, although its true you buy a basic boat and have to spend a fair bit to spec it up.

Looks good, thanks for pics. I like the way manufacturers are finally using one piece unmullioned laminated windscreens in this year's new boats (Targa 64 and 40-something also)

The grainmatching of the ash veneered panels in the galley is terrible and they will surely have to change that, but otherwise the interior looked good to me

Re: Prinz 54 LONG POST PICTURES !!!

I was very much interested in this boat but was disappointed after seeing it in Antwerp last month. I thought the finish was not up to match the stunning looks (very sloppy paint job, guard rail feels like falling off any time, quality of furniture also looks cheap). Granted this could be preproduction issues but dealer can not give guarantees that production boats will be better finished... Also heard there have been major delays and first customers still waiting for delivery one year after due date.
If ride was so fabulous, guess I need to test it anyway?
