Thought some might like to see the new Prinz 54 as there was some chat on here a while ago and how she would eventually turn out.

Forgive me if the dealer or importer is here abouts, not trying to steal anyones thunder but she has been on the water for a while so I hope no harm done.

I was quite impressed and the finish of the joinery was certainly on par with anything else, I like the dash layout and liked the three cabin layout, none of which were bad on size at all, a few areas probably need smartening up but then she is a brand new boat so only to be expected.

No idea what the performance figures are yet but seem to remember they were hoping for around 40 knts with twin IPS600's.

Some nice detail on the boat and some good ideas, worth a look if you are in that market.

Have you got your photo album protected, because all of your PB pictures are coming up with red crosses, yet Photo Bucket itself is not blocked on this system?

Ah, for some reason your Photo Album pings our Safe Surf software as a Dating site and it blocks it. ho hum (gonna look for a russian date later though /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif)

I can see them ok. The interior looks nice, interestingly, this is the 3rd thread i've seen about this boat, including pics, and no-one seems happy to show the cockpit, is there are reason???

Did you get any pics of the Cockpit, Nautical?

Cheers

Al.

Nice Boat,

I like the styling, it is very me....but I think it will date quickly! Could be a great buy second hand in 6/7 years time when tastes have moved on!

MM, can I get one sooner though!

Cheers

[/ QUOTE ]I appreciate that IPS are efficient, but just to make an example, it takes 2200 hp to push an Itama 55' at 37kts, and they hope for 40 with 800 hp? It'll be interesting to see what they will actually deliver...

We managed 40.3 knts on a 47 ' at 13.1 tons light with IPS 600's.........

so I guess it depends on what they have been able to keep the weight down to with infusion and core construction. I would think that if weight has gone to over 15 tons light that might be a little optimistic unless she has very shallow V sections

you right about this but not totally
an Itama 55 weighs about 35% more 22 Tons empty
has a draft of 1.71 mtrs with 10 degrees shaft
and an all the way deep-vee hul of 25 degrees

I think in this case the example could not have been worse, try comparing the Prinz with a Sunseeker 52 Predator, Absolute 52 or Atlantis 55

If comparing against our ABS 52, afraid we can only manage 32.5 knts with IPS 600's (although that was in swealtering heat and high humidity so I would expect 34 knts in the UK) , still pretty impressive for a 16.5 ton boat with just twin 435hp engines but our calcs reckon we would need at least another IPS unit to manage 39 knts on the 52

Prinz 54 Coupe
details as it is in there website

Engine V cruise - max Drive
2 x VOLVO D6 370 IPS-500 common rail diesel - 272kW/370HP 29 Kn - 32 Kn IPS drive - duo prop
2 x VOLVO D6 435 IPS- 600 common rail diesel - 320kW/435HP 32 Kn - 38 Kn IPS drive - duo prop

Length overall 16,97 m
Length hull 15,21 m
Width overall 4,47 m
Total height without antenna -
Displacement empty 13.800 Kg
Displacement 1/2 load 14.800 Kg
Displacement fully loaded 17.800 Kg
Depth 1,11 m
Autonomy -
Fuel capacity 1.600 L
Water capacity 600 L

I think this data is pretty close to the Abs 52, I would cut 4 knots of that speed in the Med and with a bit of load
so the 32 knots of the Abs seems pretty correct, this estimated 38 is wishful thinking IMO

realistically, who wants to do more than about 25knts on a boat that size anyway. You will probably be in beautiful scenery, why not trundle along and enjoy the ride.

[/ QUOTE ]

speed is not issue unless it is mentioned IMO
if you promise 38 knots you should go close to that speed not be doing 8 or 6 knots less
that does make a whole of difference even in the consumption figures when trundling along at 25 knots....
anything then 10% less the promised speed in any waters is a clean theft to any buyer

saying all this, I meant a general picture and I am not accusing Prinz or any other builder of this, but in reality this happens quite

I agree, but I wouldn't want to do it. Why are manufacturers so obsessed with how fast their boats will go?

I fancy a 54 with IPS 500's - as long as it does 24knts sounds ok to me /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I agree to a certain extent, however its nice to know you can do it you want but more importantly at cruising speed the engines are hardly breaking sweat, on the 47 at 2500 rpm which is 1000 rpm under max she is lolloping along at 28.5 knts which makes her very economical, if you need to push past the gas guzzling 3000 rpm mark to attain the same speed their working hard and drinking go go juice like the clappers.

try comparing the Prinz with a Sunseeker 52 Predator

[/ QUOTE ]I gave a look at the specs: 1600 hp/32 kts max.
Frankly worse than I actually expected - all in all, nearer to the Itama than to the Prinz...

Spoke to the Belgian dealer after the show in Antwerp couple of weeks ago.

On returning to Breskens, they managed 36,5 knots with full water tanks (600 liters), half full fuel tanks (800 liters) and 4 people on board.

Boat had IPS600 if I'm not mistaken.
