Princess V39

The V39 is a cracking boat, lots of volume. I recall reading on this forum that there were some structural issues with early examples of the V39, but this might well be sorted in a 2015 boat. Don‘t know the details of the issue unfortunately.
There was also a review as used boat in MBY in Oct 2017.
The rumoured issue is delamination and resin starvation areas in the cored ship side area, and affected some Princesses build in resin infusion in around 2012-16.
Most where sorted under guarantee and nothing ever came public about these issues, apart a Princess V62S and 56 Flybridge in a known American boat forum.

Hi All, Happy Easter !!!
One additional question concerning the V39.
How is the temperature below the hard top during hot summer days?
Does the hard top opening allows for good area flow ?
I understood that to allow good air flow, the hard top opening must bent toward the wind screen and not be simply horizontal.
But I cannot quantify if this is the case for V39 or not.
I will be using the boat mainly during summer in the Med.
Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum. We have a Bavaria Sport 37 hard top in Beaulieu Sur Mer so hopefully I can help with some of your questions.
We tend to leave our roof open and also the side windows in the cockpit. This gives some ventilation, but as the boat will sit nose into the wind it won’t be the full force.
We too have aircon and find it fantastic for when we are in port or at night at anchor before we head to bed.
If you have any questions about Beaulieau fire away as we have been there now for 7 years and also have an apartment there.

in Beaulieu Sur Mer

Hello,
I will be as well in Beaulieu. I do not know yet where Julien will place me. Maybe we will be neighbours :)
From the several threads that I read concerning hard top in hot summer, I came to the conclusion that I have to accept the cockpit to be on the warm (or hot) side during summer. It would have been nice to have a system that would deviate the air from the top of the wind-screen down into the cockpit.
Nobody thought at any solution?

If you have been on the waiting list then yes you will probably be over near us. The annual rental 12m berths are near Monaco Marine. They all start with CN. Here is a map to help. https://www.portdebeaulieu.com/wp-content//uploads/2016/01/Plan-du-port.jpg

We never find it too hot when at anchor. In ports it can get very warm as usually there is less wind, but we run the aircon and also have a 240v oscillating floor fan that we put on and use in the cockpit.

Hello,
this morning I could go out for a very brief test of the Princess V39 I am looking at.
The boat has almost not been moved since October 2020.
The hull and propeller are thus very dirty.
But the engine could not reach more than 3000 revs.
I found that a little too low.
Flat sea.

If they did not clean the hull and most important propellers it was acceptable. Nothing to worry about.
I would have not taken the boat out without cleaning the hull, drives and props. But divers cost money and without a contract or letter for intent to purchase not everyone is willing to do the expense (owner / broker) for this.

Hi! If you dont mind, we have some questions! We are poking around for a place to winter aboard and have ready access to the canals. How do you find the marina? Does it have a good liveaboard community? How are the facilities? How are the staff? The town? The swells? We are looking for a lively winter town that has a good local pop. A protected marina with low swell would be most critical for us. Any info appreciated.

As a owner of a 41" foot boat with dph ... yes less fuel consumption (I burn 80 l/h at 24kn with 2-year old dirty bottom and my boat weight around 11tons) but this always thing going on in your mind about all this cables and pistons and all sitting in the water.

I found the answer in doing a complete review of the dphs every 2 years, that is take apart replace parts which are not in tolerance or close, cables etc and rebuild. A 4k Euro exercise but better than throwing the season away for a sensor problem on a leg. So just plan for it and all will be good.
