It's surely bound to raise some eyebrows among anyone who spent millions for a modern planing boat, from a highly reputable builder, just to realise that she's nowhere near the cruising attitude of your old lady. :eek:

Re. Gandola, they're based near my lake home. Actually I can't tell that they're up there among the best passerelle builders, but it's a small company and I'm sure that they will listen to any needs you might have. Probably more so than any other bigger builder like Besenzoni etc.
 
Well done BartW for reaching the end of the first part of your story with Bleu Angel. She looks fab and I look forward to seeing many more cruising stories and pics from you in the future and maybe one day see you back in Croatia

Hi Bart, Good lord, I don't check in here very often and then I've seen this post.

Many congratulations, she looks a very fine vessel indeed. Plus by the sounds of it, you've had a great adventure buying her.

I quite often think of your other slightly "smaller" boat and think, perhaps in the future I may buy one of them, would suit my needs nicely.....

....As for your new "toy", it may be some time before I move up to something quite that size (unless I win on the lotto :) )

Congrats again, may you and your family have many great times on her.

Thanks ... may have to take you up on that one year.... She looks great and I do hope your experiences from now on will be a continuation of what you feel now.

I never thought I could fall in love with such a old lady,

but don"t we all like to look at a 20yo every now and then :D

I'm going to try this out tomorrow or thursday,
but I honestly don't care what they think how many millions it costs,
as long as they like her lines as much as we do :)
 
Don't mean to revive an old thread but it's interesting to see how much of the same process I am about to start somebody already been through.
Would be nice to know how things went few years down the line.

Blue Angel is still a credit to Bart and his lovely wife, a superb boat which serves them well with their entertaining focused lifestyle.
Myself and my family were lucky enough to be invited onboard 12 months ago for a Sardinian coastal cruise which we all still talk about today with very fond memories.


Although BA is the perfect boat for Bart, I have noticed he has a straying eye for a new sleek and sexy San Lorenzo......but I guess he’s only human :)
 
First of all BartW´s posts an threads here are a precious contribution and I must thank him for sharing all these experiences and the wealth of knowledge and experience that came with the buying process and years of hopefully happy ownership of BA. Myself just trying to venture into a similar story I found his shared experiences are just precious!

thanks C, it was a pleasure having you onboard,
and as you have experienced ; we still love this boat just like 10y ago ! :)

You know I have a soft spot on SL's, ;-)
but I'm afraid there won't be one available with all these mods that we like so much and became used at ! Unless a new build, but no time, nor motivation (nor the budget) for that right now !
and if I'm realistic what would bring another boat extra compared to what we have now ?
as you know, I'm very conservative on my (old ) lady's :)

gladd to hear you have similar "dreams" as we had many years ago,
I have to admid, every few years people with this idea or a certain admiration on Canados came along here, I even met some of them,
but none of them jumped in ,
so Bernd, there is your challange :) :)

don't focus on the "chartering" we only did a tiny bit of "real charter" its very hard to make this work and earn money with it,
the costs involved are huge (you need extra staff to begin with),
we were furtunate to be able to use the boat mostly with friends and family and this is all good fun !

Hi Bart
You don’t need to upgrade ANY of your older ladies, they are both perfect, but I’m sure you already know this :)


Andie and I still laugh about the classic Bart statement when anchored with MapisM, jet ski in the water off the stern of BA, a nervous first time operator listening to the wise words of the experienced older guy.
“The throttle is very sensitive, just apply pressure slowly and gently, like you would to a woman”......
