Princess or Ferretti , what boat would you choose?

Anyway, a diving cruise is the only good reason to visit Maldives imho.
How was yours?

fully agree !
will make a new thread with a report and pics when I'm back home,

this time we've seen many eagle ray's like in one of your pics,
these are my favourite underwater creatures
and 3 dives with manta's

I do like the pics M, fantastic colours. From your days of film?
Thanks, glad you appreciate. Nope, all digital - possibly my first, IIRC.
Raw format and post processing does help a lot, with U/W colours. All shooted with no filters at all!
And even better in the original resolution, as you can imagine, but they can't be posted directly, 'cause they would screw the forum view.
Here's a few other examples in hi-res, just to give the flavour: Lobster, Mates, Nudibranch

I find both the colours and the complete absence of silt just amazing. Must visit Maledives some day. Yes, raw gives some room to play with pp so I shoot everything in raw.

Hi Brendan,
I really don't know,
the guy who made it did it in mac for sure,
its his job, to make things like that
so I rather not asc him how he did it ;)

by the way, I've alway's liked your avatar !

Ah ha!, a pro job, that explains it. OK, I'll have to assemble some freebie software for her to do something similar.
Thanks for the avatar comment, I've been tempted many times to go for something different, but I do like it.

What is the final price if you dont mind me asking?

PM send, Sales agreement stipulates that I can’t reveal the details of the sale, so I better don’t post this on a open forum,
But if someone wants a bargain 70ft Canados, there are a few more in stock right now. :)
For this nice little ship, I payed less than the price of a new 35ft A-Brand sports cruiser.

Yes I agree that maintenance, mooring and operational cost are MUCH bigger, but I don’t care as business is good.

where is the woodwork that needs doing?

here in this picture you can see the piercer stick in the side pannel,

i-Cw3F7rk-L.jpg

this way, the surveyor discovered weak spots in these side pannels (plywood) from the gunwale, initially he discovered just a few weak spots, but after full inspection, decided that all this panelling from midships until the stern on both sides has to be replaced.

he have a few options when and who will do this job in winter time, most probably for a lot less then 12k euro.
next weekend I will talk again with that old craftworker, he has prepared a plan / drawing for the stern steps... To Be Continued

Hey Mike, I just realised we won't be meeting in Cavtat this summer, who's going to point you the good restaurants then :D
let me know when you're coming I might be there just for a few day's to arrange some things (unless it interferres with our epic Rome Marseille voyage)

Hey Bart, that Cap'n Alf is fantastic. Not only does he drive and mend the boat but he cooks as well. Can I marry him after you've finished with him?
yes you can, but he wants to stay around Italy (close to his family) and he's quite expensive, ... but worth every penny
will post later about our easter weekend on the boat with Alf.

Lovely to find the craftsman who worked on your boat originally. Please let us know how the repairs go.

yes he made a quotaion for the modification of the steps to the platform I had in mind, 15k for the work, completely finished, including teac on the steps, SS metal banister,... thats a bargain, but not for now, thats a project for next winter, will keep you updated how it goes.

Saw this thread at the beginning but, for some reason, missed all the decision-making and have just caught up. Congratulations. Bleu Angel looks wonderful.

Sounds OK. Let us know how it goes with pics, please

We had hoped that the paperwork would have been done before Easter, as this was a good moment for our family to go to the boat in Rome. Unfortunately the Italian de-registration takes much longer than expected.

We nevertheless decided to spend a weekend on Bleu Angel.
We could not leave on good Friday, as our boy’s had a gig with their rock band friday night, so Saturday morning we left for the 7h am flight to Rome. (the boy's didn't go to bed that night) .

The boat is not yet handed over to me, at this moment she’s “unarmed” so theoretically we could not go on her. I agreed with the broker and the owner that I could be on the boat on my own responsibility.
For my own peace of mind, I did already start my insurance,
In these circumstances we couldn’t go out with the boat, but we decided to do just a small trip on the sea, and around the corner on the nearby river (Tiber), and exercise the mooring to one side (against the current in that river) , and then back in her berth, mooring to stern. (Talking by walky talky’s with my amateur crew) No there are no video camera’s on the boat.

Here our favourite captain Alf was teaching me to drive the boat.
I could only wear a crew T-shirt, not yet captain

The new crew are real amateurs, they didn’t know you can’t eat the fish that you cath inside a dirty harbour

I really like these fine details with the Canados logo

Who can guess what’s the boat missing here?
EME and JFM are not allowed to answer this question

Monday evening 21h flight back home.
Although we didn’t have time to go and listen to the popes Urbi at Orbi, neither time to pray, neither happened any miracles,
Again we had a wonderfull weekend on Bleu Angel.

Well Bart, it seems that you aren't missing the Croatian cuisine, after all...! No to mention the wine, I suppose. :D
Impressive, those storm shutters on the portholes. Talk about overbuilding of the good old days!
I'm intrigued by the passerelle, does it automatically fold before retracting?
The overhang seems huge, but you'll like that, in some marinas.
All the very best for a fantastic summer on Blue Angel.
Apropos, you're keeping her name, I suppose?

She looks fabulous Bart, well done!
How big is the RIB on the flybridge? Hopefully large enough for your diving expeditions. What happens to the skipper once you formally own her?

Sssh, you can't mention Croatian cuisine to BartW. It's better than Italian cuisine:eek:

yes it does, solid old technology
this is how the system looks from the inside,

I believe I saw a factory drawing from the electric controll cirquits in the documents on board, don"t remember the brand name, wasn't a brand I ever heard about
this is the hydraulic steering

yes even long enough when adding a 1,5m long hi lo platform :)

Apropos, you're keeping her name, I suppose?

Yes we had a small family discussion on that, one son wants to call her "Black Angel" according a song title from the Velvet Underground
but a few other family members didn't agree,
No one came with a better sugestion,
So we will continue to call her "Bleu Angel"
this has alway's been her name.
