Princess Electric Sliding Windows

FWIW the lack of fall in the drain tube was the exact problem with my boat (OP). I stumbled on a 'fix' by accident in that I inserted (and left in place) a small (capillary?) tube down the drain pipe that allowed the trapped air to escape and therefore allowed the drain tube to drain. I also fitted a clear lexan cover to the 'cassette' so that I could see what was happening.

That said, I've just received my replacement motor unit from Princess and will fit it soon. I'll report when I'm done.

Cheers.

Just bought a 2004 Princess 61'. The salon aft window which was working is now stuck in the up position. Relays are good. Can hear the motor when pushing the up button. Hear just a click when pushing the down button, but window doesn't move. Used silicone around tracks and tried to help force the down movement while pushing on the down button, as someone suggested. Still doesn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks

The only thing that I can suggest is that you look at the photos and attachments that I posted in #6 of this thread.
Mine on our P67 but similar construction has always been stiff.
I suggest that it might be the flexible drive from the motor to the window frame.
Mine is virtually impossible to reach - you will probably have to remove a lot of the internal seating etc to get to it.
Good luck
Please post any photos if you do decide to strip it down.

Hi All,

Just stumbled back on this post whilst browsing the forum. Haven't been here for a while however, I did end up fitting the 'new' window motor unit from Princess. I say 'new' but it was clearly very second hand.

When the 'new' unit was fitted the motor crapped out straight away so we swapped the old motor with the 'new' transmission and refitted. The piece of crap lasted one week before one of the welds in the transmission broke.

We pulled the window pane away from the bottom mounting rail and parked the transmission unit at full down. This was a couple of years ago now and I've been 'manually' pulling the window pane up and down as needed. I use a large suction cup to hold the window up. Very jury rigged but there is no fix that I can conceive of that would make this apocalyptically awful piece of design and engineering ever work.

My only option is to cut into the side of the boat, remove the entire window, frame and mechanism and replace with a fixed pane with manually opening portlight of some sort.

Thanks Princess. Never again.
