Princess C class

Am I crazy for thinking the price is eye-wateringly high for what it is:ROFLMAO:? And I don’t mean that as a slight against Pardo at all!

Honestly, I’m not even sure how some of these boats (Pardo/Windy/Fjord etc. etc.) stacks up in terms of quality or premium feel. But looking at the photo below, am I wrong in thinking that the minimalist open walkarounds don’t naturally lend themselves to being very high-premium products (not to focus in on Pardo, as others are similar). I get that the T-top is carbon fibre and the accommodations are surely very nice - but beyond that, the rest just seems ordinary.. Yet clearly these boats keep selling, and prices keep rising, so by the evidence I must be in the wrong:unsure:!

That said, I think Princess/Sunseekers/Other well-known brands maybe could do well in this segment on their brand recognition alone - especially if they can succeed in the charter/rental market, as @Bouba mentioned above.

I think Pardo and more so a Solaris Power feels more premium to a Princess V40 or V50. So how do you judge premium?
They are also luxurious inside, and outside you do not see a ripple on the gelcoat. Teak comings, what part of premium you do not see.

Also I think production wise a European WA's are more difficult time wasting to make then a standard sport cruiser, if you see the mould of the top deck and how it has to fit, and the seating that goes in all the boat from fore to aft.

Hello @PowerYachtBlog
what do you think of the new XL Marine 55 walk-around? I have only seen it in photos.
What's the quality like? on par with the Pardo and Solaris?
It's an interesting boat as the only one on shafts.
Thanks
The first XL 55 was produced as a charter boat from the start, with a one cabin layout, and without the two double cabins at midships.
The same platform is offered with a squared stern for example, unlike the sloop of this hull one, and also as a traditional open yacht.
The finishing is good but a certain degree of practicality was included.

Incidentally, Princess just released another teaser for a new "superyacht", so I guess their range may be moving in both directions size wise. It's unclear whether this will also be revealed at Cannes. I'm really not a fan of these teaser-of-teasers.

We live in an age, were the hype is more important then the product....
And unfortunately this involves every product....

We also live in an age where the hype can kill a product even before it’s been designed.....ask the guy in charge of Jaguar....oh, not him...he’s been sacked

No,the Jaguar stuff was the world’s most successful media hype ever - a company with no products for sale for the next 2 years got more mainstream media coverage than the entire of the the rest of the motor industry combined. It was brilliant brand awareness promotion.

Second only to Gerald Ratner! Everyone knew the name Ratner within days of his little speech!

He got more media coverage than the entire of the rest of the retail jewellery industry combined. It was a brilliant brand awareness promotion.

Of course, some say that there's a little more to successful marketing than that... :)

I'm really keen to know where these rental companies are that run Pardos! Does anyone have a link? :)
The company I work for regularly charters three for Ft Lauderdale show. They are based in Miami and constantly busy with a growing fleet. All day charters.

I’m not impressed.....it’s seems to be exactly like a few others already on the market....plus it is a day boat but not designed for Med mooring ....unless there is a hidden passerelle

I believe that this will be the end of the v40. A sad day for people who want to cruise and stay on their boats overnight.
I do not think this new C line will cannibalise the V line.
But I agree that builders are moving away from "small" yachts as margin are smaller.
For ex, I visited the Itama 54 and they told me it will replace the 45.

Seems like the world has divided up....France and Poland on one side...and everyone else on the other side unable to make money on small boats

By the way, in support to petem's comment, it is true that even Beneteau has transformed the Granturismo 40 (similar to the V40) into an open walkaround boat, with only an open space cabin below:1757434064973.png

Means this will be the entry level Princess boat. Probably well north of £1m. Styling not brilliant. Poor space and limited facilities for cruising types. Not ideal for Med use. Too open for UK waters. 3x600 =1,800HP = not enough power for the US bonkers dayboat market.

Oh well.

I think this is a mistake from Princess. For two reasons, with a catch (big or small that it is).

The C48 is an interesting boat, very much geared for the US market, with the little exception for the inboard version.
But anyways the Pardo 43 is inboard, and half of the 300 sold have been sold in USA.

Also considering the stepped hull, this was more born as an outboard performance center-console, then an inboard boat.

Princess dealer in the US market is Viking Yachts (they sell about 20 yachts a year), which has Valhalia offering a near identical product.
I am not sure Viking-Valhalia will push a lot this product, considering they have their own, which is also (bang the drums) engineered by Michael Peters.

Valhalia offers the V-46, a sportfish geared center console. But Viking has this Spring debuted the 55 SY, and I will not be surprised if they make a 46 SY, if they see the 55 having a success.

Probably offering a V40 with outboards would be have been a less costly move, considering also that the Regal cruisers with this set-up are having good success, and probably more in line in leaving the plate that you eat from not disturbed.

I am not sure this is the right move from Princess, unless that a dealer set-up is going to be made in the USA and North American continent.

Perhaps Princess don’t make them at all....and they are just rebadged Beneteaus ?
