Princess 61 vs Squad 58 vs Aicon 56

The Sq58 was actually available also with the Cat 3406, whose displacement and power is the same as MAN V8s.
And if given the choice, AOTBE I would have definitely preferred a 3406 to a D12 powered Sq58, just for sake of NOT having VP engines, more than anything else.
That said, it's not like the different powerplant made a meaningful difference to the boat performances.
My understanding is that the cruise speed difference was negligible, and at WOT it was just a matter of one to two knots, if that.
Indeed I stand corrected , good of FL looks about right .
This throws the cat amongst the pigeons . :) Raises its contention In this company.

I disagree.
In the Med, you should get the biggest boat that you can afford.
I guess if you need to live aboard maybe ? Past a certain size you also need crew which is something I really dislike (costs apart), or spend 3 hours cleaning the damn thing while your guests have a cocktail at the bar.
If you have a villa / flat there is no point. We often have too many guests overnighting in the house and we send them to the marina to sleep in the Primatist.

EDIT: Oh btw considering the xmas time ... I hijack this thread briefly to wish all of you a wonderful Xmas time, I really enjoyed the discussions / arguments / facepalms we had this year. The wealth of knowledge which comes out from this forum is quite unbelievable, I also hope that my contributions also helped someone make a better choice (beside the best choice which would be no boat but this is not really relevant).
Stay all safe and may the diesel price be kind to us in 2022.

I didn't realise that they also fitted the Cats.
Maybe that would be the answer to those very expensive exhaust elbows that people are always changing on the D12s
