PRINCESS 52 - Joystick or bow/stern thrusters?

A few years ago two forumites bought big Sunseekers with black paint jobs. Both of them quickly had a problem with the paint fading and turning dull, and Sunseeker offered to paint them with black awlgrip under warranty. One of the forumites posted to say what fantastic service this was, and weren't Sunseeker brilliant. The other posted to say what poor product quality this was, and weren't Sunseeker rubbish. Neither of them was wrong, but I wonder who had the better ownership experience

I think that's a really good point, in 14 months of ownership since new Ive had the following issues:
1 inch of spidering on the tender garage door - dealer decided to request replacement door rather than repair, Prestige obliged and shipped the door direct to our marina, Ancasta fit, test and apply new decals.

Washer/dryer wend BANG whilst in France, Prestige ship new one and fit within 3 days

One electric blind has small kink in a fold, again Ancasta decide to replace

One small crack in teak on swim deck, replaced with new teak

One amidships bilge pump sensor fail, currently awaiting part and replacement.

And some other bits and bobs.

Now I imagine that if I had needed to argue with the dealer, chase the repair or schedule around the dealer and not my time that much of this could have been frustrating, I have every sympathy for a punter in that situation.

As things have gone, cominication has been outstanding, repairs and replacements happen quickly and without any quibble and I've learnt a hell of a lot about my boat.

I think that Ancasta know that I conribute on this forum but I'm certain that it's not the only reason they have provided a first class service, I also think that I'm a pretty good client, patient and tolerant and I think that helps also.

There are always going to be issues with a new boat, so many components, so much to go wrong; it's the customer service that really counts and a good manafacturer and efficient dealer can keep a customer for life if they deal with the clients problems well.

So when you buy a new boat, my advice is enjoy the snagging process, form a good relationship with the dealer, (tell them what your expectations are), and don't put up with any bullshot :)

My preference would be shafts with bow and stern thrusters. Thrusters preferable hydraulically powered which depends on the required HP being available to power the hydraulic pumps when the engines are idling.
