I have to say that these boats do look very attractive!

Anybody on this forum had any experience?
Any fors or againsts?

Love to hear what owners think of this model and which are the best engine installations!

did you see my partner Phils article in MBY a little while back called "a tricky delivery" twas a 435, ok she had engine probs, (said engine has just been removed from boat) however sea keeping excellent.

Bags of space, heavy vessel almost over engineered from what I hear
 
Yes I did read that article, its what got me looking at them! I have to say that I can't find many for sale, which I guess is a good indicator!

Nothing wrong with my own boat, but after 6 years of owning her I think I fancy a change! havn't quite decided even on that yet! lol.

Wasn't the 435 featured in one of the used boat features in MBM within the last few months?
 
Barry, I had one of these and it was one of the best boats I've ever owned, if not the best. The 435 has a superb hull, great in a following sea and with a sharp enough V to be good in a head sea as well. Loads of interior space with a huge aft master cabin and excellent helm position
My only criticisms would be these. Most were sold with TAMD61A's which give a top speed of about 25-26 knots and therefore a touch underpowered. A few boats were fitted with 71A and 72A engines which give speeds closer to 30knots and are definitely the ones to go for but don't pay over the odds. You might find the windows leaking as Princess went thru a period of fitting ally framed windows with s/s surrounds which caused degrading of the frames; tell tale sign is white deposits around the frames. We found the saloon seating to be uncomfortable but it can be re-upholstered fairly cheaply. The gennie situated under the saloon is noisy when you're actually sitting in the saloon. I'm really scratching around for anything worse to say
Altogether an excellent boat. Why don't they make these anymore?
 
Ocean Eagle is my old boat. Her sea keeping was better than excellent it rivalled that of the old Cobra 33 from Tough's and they would keep going when a Nelson ran for cover.
The engine option I had was 360s which allowed me to cruise at a whisker under 20. However with my speeds bear in mind I didn't run a heavy boat indeed I didn't even have crew so I wasn't carrying weight.
The accomodation was OK but not spectacular and the only fault was the ridiculously small drain hole on the forrard sink unit. Ocean Eagle has everything you could think of... ranging from full air conditioning through to a washing machine and lots of things that would wink, blink and make beepy noises. Gawd knows what they did but they looked great and impressed the hell out of non-boaty visitors.
 
The too-small sink plug hole fitted to many uk boats can be alleviated by judicious drilling - still leaves a circular plughole but files down the thickness of the crosspiece at the bottom of the hole and hence the water flows out at a decent rate that doesn't make you feel the need to chase it down and/or shout at the sink.
 
Nothing compared to the winking and blinking you'd do!

It's about time you came back here properly, and less of the serious stuff. What happened to the hilarious one liners?

I am a Broom Man but there ain't many makes I haven't owned in the last 50+ years... I even owned a Birchwood once (never again).
 
I know your opinion of Birchwoods Byron! I also know that it is based on the ownership of just one boat, which I have to say was a load of rubbish so I can excuse you! However I have had two Birchwoods and indeed still own one and I think they are very well put together. I have worked on friends Brooms and yes they are well put together as well, can be a bit wobbly at sea though, but boy do they know how to charge for them!

There is a very nice Princess 435 on www.imperial-motoryachts.com.
I understood this to be the one featured in the recent MBY article.

Personal experience of the boats is all good.

The ones with the largest engines go well and are a very competent sea boat.
