Hi looking at possibly upgrading from my chris craft crowne to
a 435,
just wondered if anyone has an views on them,
do they have any known problems or issues?
Whats the best engine option?
& if anyone knows of any forsale id appreciate knowing
regards

Very roomy boat, there is one for sale in Hull. We nearly bought one but bought the Broom Ocean 42 instead as it was better a lower speeds and is lightly roomier. Usually power by 306Hp Volvo's I think.

We have owned one for six years and are really happy with it. We have the large TAMD71B (380HP) engines - best option, in our opinion - and the two-cabin dinette version. We brought it down to the Med from London ourselves (Biscay route) three years ago and have been living on it ever since. Very similar to the Broom, but with an inside helm as well as flybridge. Space is superb, fitout is great. We would really recommend it. If you Google Princess 435 there are a number for sale, it seems. PM me if you've got specific questions.

With fuel costing £5.00 a gallon very soon and the engines in this size of boat not being the most economical in the known universe, you should be able to drive home a very hard bargain on your proposed purchase to say the least.
Suspect that 20 gallons an hour plus would be the order of the day.

We owned a 435 about 10yrs ago and we thought it was a fantastic boat. The only criticism you could have about the 435 is that the standard engines, TAMD61A/306hp, are a bit underpowered for the size of boat, maxxing out at about 25-26kts and less with fouling. Our boat had 71A/357hp engines which gave about 28kts and, on a few later boats, Princess fitted the 71B engines which gave close to 30kts. So, I agree with Plan B, the bigger engines are worth having although there are a lot less around
The 435 is an excellent seaboat too, one of the first boats to have the Princess extended hull at the transom ('bustle' they called it) which gave it a slightly longer waterline length. The accomodation is huge with a particularly spacious aft cabin. Personally I would prefer the lower dinette version rather than the 3rd cabin because the dinette can convert into a sleeping area if need be
The only problem we had with our boat was badly corroded engine mountings which eventually failed but I believe Volvo were aware of this problem and most, if not all boats, should have beefier upgraded mounts fitted. We also found the saloon seating to be flat and uncomfortable but we had the seats reupholstered to a better shape
Overall and IMHO, you can't go wrong with a 435 provided the oily bits are in good shape
