As the title says, it will be a sea boat not inland,
I like the boat but is it too under powered?

That's the kind of power fitted to a boat of this size in the day it was built, it was standard, probably a cruising speed of 18-18 knots, clean hull half fuel and water low stores and two people?

The 410 was an evolution of the 398 which was basically a 388 with a moulded in bathing platform. All 388s got TAMD61 306hp engines and they were fine. In fact the Princess 45 (much bigger boat) started off life with about 250hp aside if I remember rightly.

Don't expect to cruise everywhere at 30 knots (it probably won't even reach 30 knots flat out), but provided the engines are fit and the hull clean, it should be fine for cruising around at 18-20 knots.

Chap on our pontoon has a 410 with the 370HP engines.
Did mention to him that was going to view a 410 for sale with 306 hp located on The Thames.
His only comment was that it was a little under powered by todays standards.
Might well have bought it if the owner and/or broker could make up their mind regards the asking price.
It was advertised at £79 K and went up to £89K on arrival at the marina.
Did sea trial a Princess 388 with pair of 306HP engine, fresh off the hard , no fuel/no water/no junk ,with new coat of anti foul it did achieve 23- 24 knots at WOT.

Nothing wrong with 306 ho engines , I had a 388 way back with the 306 did 30 knots when clean , some years later I had a 410 , a genuine one not a badged up 398 , this one had the 662A 340s. Made no difference still 30 knots .

I had one until last year.

18 cruise is fine but you need to keep it clean. Top speed about 26. I once saw 29 straight out of the slings when it was new (to me) and empty of stuff.

The hull comes to life at about 20. And you can do 20 if it’s clean and you don’t fill it up with too much crap.

Adequately powered rather than under powered IMO.

And they are truly great boats. Unparalleled space and the hull will take a pounding if the weather turns.

My only criticism really is the too narrow side decks.

The boat I am looking at is on the upper Thames looks well looked after
But it's a long way from Scotland where I wold ultimately want it.

Thanks I will be happy with that turn of speed,

Some confusion here , post is about Princess 410 not Sealine 410 , but I’d say similar weight boats

Be quick I’ve had a client on wanting me to inspect engines
Thanks I a m looking at a boat on Sunday I will see how that checks out first.
I almost called you about a sealine in portishead with engine problems as I am getting to old to do that kind of work myself Regards Harvey

If you buy the Thames boat don’t miss out on the trip down the river and through central London. Very special doing that.

Load onto a lorry at Chatham or Essex if you don’t fancy or have time for the big trip.

Plenty of power in the 61’s. I’d suggest they are actually more than the 306hp claimed. We have two of these in a princess 385 with an OAL of about 42ft almost. Very heavy built hull and also has a keel so not full planing. She will still manage an easy 28 knots fully loaded and likely 30 light.
enormous power in these engines.

Kennet Marina. ?
Was up for sale at £89K then dropped to £79K then put back up again to £89k, and presumably still for sale ?
