Fiddle with those trim tabs all you want , all they are going to do is to give you a better view of me disappearing into the distance. :):):)
Are you doing the Swan Upping ?

If you need the wind to drop, is it the right boat?

OGs Rules of passage state that.................
A. A half full flute of wine must remain upright and the surface remain completely undisturbed when standing on the saloon table throughout any planned cruise.
B. Any forecast over F1 (Moderating) should be treated with some caution.
C. The "crew " have already expressed 1001 reasons why the proposed purchase is totally unsuitable ,to expensive / to big/to small. wrong upholstery, only one bog, insufficient clothing storage , cupboards in the wrong places, has a step down into the saloon and even worse the boat has two transom doors which will surely result in the boat sinking at some point :(

Might see you there, we are coming into the river next week and always make an effort to visit PHYC.

Always found them to be a very welcoming bunch without pretentions of grandeur . :;)

yes you are right. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. We would not go anywhere else. Hopefully we will cross paths and share a drink.
safe journey x

Sorry !
We made an offer straight away as we knew it would go quick,

Yeah we had to get finances sorted and didn't fancy the incredible price of marine finance.

Blue moon represented really decent value in this daft as hell market too. So you were dead right.

We are looking at 470/480s but to be honest all the prices of 45' plus appear to ignore any depreciation the last decade and have added another 30k on top. For 25-30 year old boats.

So far, without exception. It's like the market conspired to ensure folks tried to extract this 30k covid and brexit tax.

We had a fairly rare after cabin, 46' cruiser when she was 27 years old. She cost 85 k.

So allowing inflation, maybe 90k to 95k worth.

Hahah try buying the same type of boat at the same type of age for 95k.

?????

We probably gonna be skipping this years silly market and try winter or end of next year.

Hopefully customers willing to pay all the unnecessary extra money will have dried up.

You keeping her on the Thames?

Hi
Unfortunately you are right. We have been looking for a while, we went to see a sealine S38 in Bray and they left the paperwork in one of the drawers, there was an invoice for £72000 5 years before he was selling for 89000 sold within two days full asking price ( crazy), we selling our sealine 28 for 9k more than we brought so I shouldn’t complain lol
With blue moon we saw the price had dropped we made a cheeky offer, we never thought he would accept, as we had a budget and didn’t mind waiting until the prices dropped a bit, guess we were lucky.

We staying in the river for now, we are in Penton hook so she is going back there. The couple that owned her before are looking forward to her return. She is a very well known boat lol

I watched Tingdene put an early 1980s Broom 42 up at £69,950 one week. We decided to have a nose, just out of curiosity really. In that very week, the cheeky buggers dumped another £5k on it. I've dealt with Tingdene a few times now, so being fair, it would have been the owner telling them but that was blatant.

I've my eye one a couple of Princesses whom I'm hoping, if they don't go by the autumn, will come back down to earth price wise.

Still, all one can do is wait. I can't believe this artificial inflation can remain forever LOL.

That's interesting she's very well known on the Thames.

Think we saw you going into Bell Weir around noon today with the fuel narrowboat trying to get in at the same time! ( Not often you see an ACM) Lady in red on the bow
Enjoy ?

Yup that was us.
Moored at Runnymede,booked restaurant tonight.
Boat prices became a joke during Covid and the self inflicted 20 % tax hike on importing stuff from the EU destroyed that source of boats.
The ACM came from the Channel Isles, the owner had to pay around 20K to get it into the UK.
Still that should pay for some decent wine at No 10.

Must confess, this has factored into our own thinking about getting another one.
I dislike what I see as a massive, artificial premium in the current prices compared to what they ought to have been, allowing for ordinary inflation. Between £20k to £50k on top of boats that would seem, to me, to be worth £50k - £100k respectively.

Whether it's worth just ignoring the current market in the hope that another year's wait will see this excess melt away or not, is debateable.

On the one hand, it's a year longer without boating; on the other, its not exactly a necessity, unlike say, a house.
Trouble with waiting is, first time boat buyers probably don't have much of a gauge as to the relative value of second hand boats so keeps the market supplied with buyers.

Of the boats we looked at , 3
either had old surveys or previous sales details left on board.
One boat was originally on sale at £115.000 in 2018 with a survey listing a host of expensive problem that the survey said needing fixing.
Was up for sale in 2022 for £150.000 (price reduced from £160.000).......and none of the stuff had been fixed.
It was in a pretty awful state as well.Muck in all the storage cubby holes and the covers were as stiff as boards.it had obviously not been used/moved in ages.

We were surprised to see that the Egham towpath moorings were pretty much empty when we passed by. Even spaces available at Laleham. And found a nice spot at Weybridge EA to spend a night or two.
Guess you’ll be heading for The Italian Concept with the delicious Montenare ?
